3 years ago, I toed the start line of my first Ironman distance in Coeur d Alene (CdA). So the plan has been to go back and race the half and the full this year as a prep for Kona. Unfortunately, just like last year with 3 fractures in my foot (conseq., not at the same time), my season is massively delayed as my Achilles tendinitis (which started last October) is still making every run more or less painful. I am really thankful for my wonderful coach Chris who has guided me through the rough patches that I have had this year and for pushing me in the other two disciplines. There is always something to improve on and while others throw a pitty-party on Facebook with a little cold that prevents them from being topfit for the trainingscamp/weekend or running race, I knew I had a long road ahead and I also knew that injuries/illnesses are part of the sports and knew to take it "professionally". So I have seen another specialist last week (finally one whose opinion I really trust!) and while the Achilles is improving, still no racing for me.
