Our Team of Athletes

Victor | Ironman athlete

I have been doing triathlons since 2013. My back ground is running with few marathons and several half marathons as well. Also some other shorter distance races. I have done 4 half Ironman races and 1 full distance. My full Ironman was in 2015 down in Cozumel, México and even when I enjoyed the race so much, I firmly believe I can obtain a better result. I'm racing it again this year and my goal is to not only finish it, but to complete it in under 12 hours which will be a 2+ hours PR. I know and I'm certain that with Carla's coaching and guidance, I will be able to do that.

John | Ironman athlete

John is on a mission: To complete all Ironman races in the USA (including Kona). So far he has successfully completed Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2016 and Ironman Louisville 2016. In addition, he has completed Ironman 70.3 Coeur d'Alene. He and his beautifuI wife live in Anchorage, where the short outdoor season makes training plenty challenging and KOM's (king of the mountain) awards even sweeter. Mr Alaska is a hard worker and my winter goal is to make his treadmill sessions bearable. :)

Pat | Ironman athlete

Watch out AG 55-59, Pat is still getting faster! Another podium this year at Ironman Arizona with a bike PR (a smokin' 5:49h)! Kona is calling her name, and we are confident she will get there! She also grabbed a podium at Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz 2016 (2nd in her age group), qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships 2017!!! We are very excited seeing her race 70.3 Worlds next year! She is the poster child of an athlete; always completes all workouts as described and always smiling doing it! Cannot wait to ride my bike with this lady again next summer! She is a super strong cyclist, smart and such a pleasure to be around!

Carla | Ironman athlete Elite

I'm racing as a Pro Triathlete over the Ironman distance, but first of all I am a full time Faculty Research Associate in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Oregon State University doing research on cholera, probiotics and aquaculture pathogens and chasing federal grants. My work days keep me busy and working out keeps me sane. My athletes are the most amazing people and seeing them finishing their races gives me as much or even more joy than racing myself. I love coaching! I am a late starter in sports, and like to be a role model because anything is possible, all it takes is the first step.  As a Pro I might never be able to train as much as others do, but I sure love the challenge - even at 41 years old.

Wismar | Ironman athlete

Born and raised between Spain and Venezuela, currently living in Seattle, Wismar is a 45 years old age grouper with big plans for 2017! Lavaman, Ironman 70.3 Whistler and Ironman Cozumel are his key races. As most age groupers, the big challenge in 2017 will be how to balance a heavy training schedule with a demanding job, lots of business travel, college hunting for his daughter, college support for his son and other family commitments. Wismar is an active board member of the Seattle Green Lake Triathlon Group and truly loves the sport! When asked by his non triathletes friends why he "does this", his answer usually is:

I swim/cycle/run because if I didn’t, I’d spend too much time on the couch. I swim/cycle/run to explore and breathe fresh air. I swim/cycle/run to escape the ordinary. I swim/cycle/run to honor my dad and grandparents. I swim/cycle/run to excite and unite my sister, mom, son, daughter and friends. I swim/cycle/run to remember the great individuals who have touched me with their friendship and love. I swim/cycle/run to learn from others and make friends. I swim/cycle/run because it keeps me humble. I swim/cycle/run for the finish line and to enjoy the journey along the way. I swim/cycle/run to smile, cry and feel. I swim/cycle/run because I can't handle drugs and alcohol. I swim/cycle/run to get to know me. (Inspired by Dean Karnazes)
